EverFlor - ClearGuard - Original

ClearGuard Original is a two-part, 100% solids clear epoxy floor coating for interior concrete. Mix the resin and hardener, roll it on, and it cures to a hard, glossy, chemical-resistant film that seals the slab and stops it dusting. Because the coating is clear, the concrete stays on show — the floor is protected, not painted over.

At 100% solids nothing is lost to evaporation, so the wet film you lay down is the dry film you keep: 250 µm from a single coat. That build is what carries the traffic, resists oil and spills, and gives you a surface that mops and wipes clean instead of holding dirt in the pores of the concrete.

The same product is the sealing coat in the EnduraFlake system. Applied over broadcast flakes, it grouts between them and locks them down, levelling the surface into one smooth, cleanable film. ClearGuard Original is an interior coating. Epoxy clears amber gradually in daylight, so where the floor sees sunlight or the finish is on show in daylight, specify ClearGuard Ultra, the UV-stable polyaspartic version.

Good to know

This coating is not 100% UV stable. Keep it out of strong daylight, or use ClearGuard Ultra where UV resistance is needed. Apply between 10°C and 25°C. Pot life is 30 minutes at 20°C, so mix only what you can lay in that time, and do not leave full containers in direct sunlight or hot areas before use — heat shortens the pot life further. If a second coat is wanted, overcoat after 12 hours and within 48 hours at 20°C. Applicators cannot practically be cleaned; discard them after use.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Make sure the concrete is clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove all oil, grease, dust and laitance, and take off anything that is loose or flaking. Where you are coating over existing paint, it must be well bonded to the slab. Suitable substrates are concrete, well bonded paint and cured flake systems.

MIXING

Mix the two components at 1.62 : 1. Stir thoroughly, scraping the sides and base of the container so no unmixed material is left behind. Do not thin the product. Pot life is 30 minutes at 20°C — mix only what you can lay within that time. Keep full containers out of direct sunlight and away from hot areas before use, as a warm unit will cure faster in the pot.

APPLICATION

Apply by brush or roller. Lay one coat at 250 µm wet film, which stays at 250 µm dry because the product is 100% solids. Work in sections and keep a wet edge. A 5kg unit covers 18m². Apply between 10°C and 25°C. Over an EnduraFlake broadcast, spread the coating so it grouts between the flakes and levels into a smooth wear surface.

DRYING AND CLEAN UP

Touch dry in 6 to 8 hours at 20°C. Take foot traffic after 12 hours. If you are applying a second coat, do so after 12 hours and within a maximum of 48 hours at 20°C. Allow 7 days for full cure before heavy use or chemical exposure. It is not practical to clean applicators — discard them after use.
