Quality You Can Trust
Performance Standards & Testing Methods
Our coatings undergo rigorous internal testing to ensure they perform under pressure. Below is a guide to the international standards (ISO, BS, EN) we use to verify the safety, durability, and finish quality of our products.
Slip Resistance (BS 7976-2)
Measures how slip-resistant the surface is in wet or dry conditions using a pendulum test value (PTV).
Slip Resistance (DIN 51130)
Ramp test that grades slip risk underfoot using an R-rating (common in commercial environments).
Abrasion Resistance (ISO 5470-1)
Indicates how quickly the coating wears under abrasion. Lower mass loss = higher durability.
Scratch Resistance (ISO 4586-2)
Shows resistance to scratching under a controlled applied force.
Impact Resistance (ISO 6272)
Assesses how well the coating withstands sudden knocks without cracking or delaminating.
Flexibility (ISO 1519)
Tests how well a coating bends with the substrate without cracking.
Adhesion (ISO 2409)
Cross-hatch test that grades how strongly the coating sticks to the surface.
Adhesion Strength (EN 1542)
Pull-off test measuring the force needed to detach the coating (typically MPa / N/mm²).
Water Permeability (EN 1062-3)
Indicates how readily water can pass through the coating. Lower absorption = better barrier.
Gloss Value (60° Glossmeter)
Measures surface shine. Higher numbers = glossier finish.
Hardness (Wolff-Wilborn Hardness)
Rates surface hardness and scratch resistance using graded pencil leads.
Chemical Resistance (Internal Method)
Rates how well the coating resists chemical exposure over time (e.g., acids, oils, solvents).
VOC Content
Reports the level of volatile organic compounds for compliance and site suitability.
Light Reflectance Value
Measures how light or dark a colour appears—useful for contrast and visibility planning
What Are Standards & Ratings?
Standards and ratings on this page show how products have performed during internal testing carried out in accordance with recognised test methods, such as British Standards (BS), European Standards (EN), or ISO procedures.
Testing is conducted under controlled conditions for comparative and technical reference. Results may be presented as numerical values, classifications, or pass/fail outcomes, depending on the test method used.
Where available, explanation links provide further detail on the test method and how results should be interpreted.
