EverFlor - AsphaltCoat

EverFlor AsphaltCoat is a single-pack water-based acrylic coating for asphalt, tarmac and concrete. It colours, protects and waterproofs in one operation, laying down a matt, smooth film that stays flexible on surfaces that move and warm through the day. Being a 1K acrylic, there is no mixing, no pot life and no solvent handling to manage on site.

The primary work is tarmac and tennis court surfaces, together with marking out parking bays, pedestrian walkways and hazardous areas. It is also suitable for old asphalt and tarmac, concrete, brick and masonry, so one product can carry a colour scheme across mixed external surfaces. The film is breathable and can be applied to damp surfaces, which shortens the wait after washing down.

Seven colours are available: White (RAL 9003), Mid Blue (RAL 5010), Red Tarmac (RAL 3009), Safety Blue (RAL 5015), Safety Yellow (RAL 1023), Mid Green (RAL 6002) and Black (RAL 9005). The safety shades and white are intended for delineation and hazard identification. Red Tarmac, Mid Green, Mid Blue and Black work as broad court and bay colours. High pigment loading gives the film its hiding power over dark, patchy tarmac.

Supplied ready to use in 5 litre and 20 litre packs, applied by brush, roller or spray, and suitable for interior and exterior use.

Good to know

Apply between 10°C and 25°C, and store the pack at 10°C to 25°C for at least eight hours before use. Two coats are recommended, with recoating after four hours at 20°C, so a two-coat job can usually be finished in one working day. Full cure is reached after 24 hours. The coating is supplied ready to use — do not thin it. Shelf life is 12 months in the unopened container.

SURFACE PREPARATION

The surface must be sound, clean and free of grease, oil and loose material. Remove any weak or flaking existing coating by abrading, and check that the paint left behind is well bonded. Lightly abrade smooth, glossy paint to provide a key. On bare concrete, remove laitance and surface dust before coating. AsphaltCoat can be applied over residual damp remaining after washing down, but not to surfaces holding standing water.

CONDITIONING AND MIXING

Store the container at 10°C to 25°C for at least eight hours before you use it. Stir the pack thoroughly until the colour is uniform. AsphaltCoat is supplied ready to use — do not thin it or add water.

APPLICATION

Apply between 10°C and 25°C, with a minimum surface and air temperature of 10°C. Apply by brush, roller or spray. Cut in bay lines, edges and hazard markings with a brush, then work the body of the area. Work the coating into the texture of the asphalt and avoid heavy build. Coverage is 5.5m² per litre per coat; wet film thickness is 183 µm, giving 60 µm dry per coat and 120 µm over two coats. Apply two coats, recoating after four hours at 20°C.

DRYING AND CLEAN UP

Touch dry is two hours at 20°C and full cure is reached after 24 hours; keep traffic off until then. Clean brushes, rollers and spray lines with water straight after use. Unopened containers have a 12 month shelf life when stored at 10°C to 25°C.
